• Question: What is your favourite thing about working as an engineer?

      Hi,
      I love the diversity of the work and the different people I have been able to meet due to it. As an engineer I have had the chance to organise and participate in marketing and engineering events, to travel, to manage projects, as well as to design new parts for vehicles and test them. I work with people from all over the world and get to learn more about their life and what drives people in different countries to want different things out of products such as cars. No two days and no two jobs are ever the same!

      Hi Holly
      The best thing is being able to help other people acheive their goals. If you have designed something that then allows them to go further in their research or invent something that helps everyone then you can say that you have been a small part of something much bigger! If one of the beamlines i have worked on comes up with a cure for cancer imagine how proud that is going to make me feel.

      Dear Holly and amber1s,
      My favourite thing about working as an engineer is that I am able to use my full range of skills creatively and do wide range of activities to enhance the environment and happier people. I like the challenges that the job gives.

      For example, when designing and managing a project to repair a river bank, I used my innovative thinking, communication, financial, project and people management skills.

      My favourite thing about engineering is ability of solving problems and having impact on the society, humanity and the future of the technology. I feel that I change the world and this is amazing!
